We are absolutely THRILLED to announce two prestigious honors for the Chamber Wind Ensemble including being selected as the sole musical guest at the Wisconsin State Education Conference in January 2024. Secondly, the Middleton Chamber Wind Ensemble was selected as one of four bands NATIONALLY to attend the esteemed Percy Grainger Wind Band Festival. The selected bands will play at Chicago’s Historic Orchestra Hall at Symphony Center on April 13, 2024, and each ensemble will have a private clinic with Dr. James Patrick Miller, Douglas Nimmo Endowed Professor and Conductor of the Gustavus Wind Orchestra at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN.

The Chamber Wind Ensemble is our highest level of four big concert bands at MHS consisting of mostly 11th and 12th graders who are ready and eager to study and learn challenging repertoire. Advanced concepts of phrasing, musical precision, and interpretation are stressed. Though concert repertoire remains at the core of the curriculum, members have the opportunity to explore jazz, chamber music, and marching band pieces. 

These awards speak to the depth of musical programming at Middleton High School made possible through our determined and talented student-musicians, inspiring and dedicated leadership from our band directors, enthusiastic support from our administration and MCPASD district, community partnerships and financial donors who provide enriching experiences, scholarships and equipment, and of course our larger band community of band families, Middleton residents and alumni that remain steadfast in their support of students and the band program.
