"The WSMA State Honors Music Project is nationally recognized as one of the finest opportunities for young people. Regardless of a future college major, membership in the High School State Honors Music Project helps set students apart from other college applicants. Students selected for the WSMA High School State Honors Music Project participate in an intensive four day summer camp in June and perform in Madison during late October as part of the Wisconsin State Music Conference. Membership provides you with one of the best musical and personal experiences of your life."

Congratulations to the MHS Directors for receiving the 2020 Wisconsin Music Educators Association Melvin F. Pontious Creative Sparks Award! 

​ "The Wisconsin Music Educators Association (WMEA) recognizes music programs that foster imaginative, creative, and innovative teaching practices in music education." Mr. Brown, Mr. Kurr, Ms. Pitt, Mr. Rothacker, and Mr. Ver Voort will be recognized during the 2020 Wisconsin State Virtual Music Conference during the week of October 25.   ​ ​

On Monday, March 9, 2020, Randy Sabien, internationally known jazz violinist, worked with the jazz bands, Sinfonia, and Cardinal Orchestra.

Mr. Sabien will join the Cardinal Orchestra students for their Orchestra Creation Demonstration Performance on the evening of March 10. The student string musicians in grades 7-9 will demonstrate various creative activities they have learned over the past few months, including jazz improvisation, composition, looping pedals, heritage ensembles, old-time string bands, and more
