October 11, 2019 - Band Parent Information (Response Requested)

Hello band parents,

It was wonderful to see so many of you at the BOPA general meeting and "informance" last week.  I thought the bands that played sounded great, and I'm looking forward to seeing what we can achieve for the winter concerts.

Contact Form: 

To help BOPA serve your students,  we are asking that everyone fill out this contact information form . It will be used only for communication from BOPA parents directly - things like volunteer opportunities, fruit sale contacts, etc - and will not be shared with any other organization.  Please include on the form any contact information that you would like to be included in BOPA communications.

Volunteer: 

Please check out the parent volunteer sign-up page, where you can sign up to help out with specific events throughout the year.  Interested in volunteering on a committee or in a larger capacity?  Contact Laura Guse <mhsbopavicepresident@gmail.com> or email the committee chair directly.

Newsletter:

Check out the BOPA Whole Note newsletter, which includes calendars for the year along with other information about the program and organization.  All information is also available on the BOPA website, but this is a nice, compact format.

Program Advertisements:

The deadline to sponsor an ad in our glossy concert program for the year - for yourself, your student, your business, or your favorite charity - is Tuesday, October 15th!  Check out the website for more info. 

Jazz Bands:

Congratulations to everyone who auditioned (or non-auditioned) for a jazz band this week.  Rosters will be posted late next week.  Rehearsals start Monday, October 21st!  Missed the audition but still want to join?  Just talk to Mr. Brown.

September 25, 2019 - Band & Orchestra Parent Meeting

Hello Middleton High School band parents,

The annual general meeting for all MHS band and orchestra parents will be held at 7:00 pm this Tuesday, October 1 in the high school Performing Arts Center.  At this meeting, parents will elect the Band and Orchestra Parents Association (BOPA) 2019-20 slate of officers and find out how to get involved in our thriving school music program.  We strongly encourage you to attend.

New this year: less talking and more music!  The evening will feature brief performances by the Cardinal Band, Cardinal Orchestra, and Chamber Wind Ensemble.  The entire should program should last no more than an hour.

We hope to see you there!

May 28, 2019 - MHS Band End-of-Year Reminders

Hello band parents and students, Please read on for a few reminders about the end of the year.  The end is in sight! 1.  Memorial Day Typo - In my email about Memorial Day, one sentence said "Tuesday" instead of "Monday."  All events are of course taking place this Monday, 5/27 on Memorial Day. 2. School Instruments - All school-owned instruments and mouthpieces will need to be returned next week.  After taking inventory and sending equipment in for repairs, we will be ready to check out instruments again the week of final exams.  There is no fee for summer rental as we want to encourage students to practice over the break.  Rental availability is somewhat limited, and priority is given to students using instruments for marching band and concert band. 3.  Locker Clean-outs - Next week, students will clear out their band lockers and leave only necessary belongings.  All lockers must have a blue school lock on them; the replacement fee is $5 if you have lost yours during the year. 4.  Remaining Concerts - There are a few events left at the PAC.  Consider attending to enjoy some great music, or to finish up a listening assignment.  - May 24, 6:30pm -- Jenna & Sophia's Senior Percussion Recital  - May 25, 7:30pm -- MHS Percussion Class Concert  - May 29, 7:30pm -- MHS Orchestra "Almost Summer" Concert  - May 20, 7:30pm -- Middleton Community Orchestra 5.
