On March 23rd 2022 Middleton High School hosted their first ever Band Large Group Assessment and Clinic. The event brought in several other schools across Wisconsin for the opportunity to receive grading and feedback from professionals across the country. Each group prepared several pieces and was given a clinic with Associate Director of Bands at West Virginia University, Dr. Cheldon Williams. Adjudicators that also provided feedback included former Middleton High School music teacher and President-Elect of the Wisconsin Educators association Brad Schneider, Assistant Professor of Trumpet at UW-Madison Jean Laurenz, and Director of Bands at UW-Whitewater Dr. Glenn C. Hayes.
Middleton students also enjoyed additional clinic time with Dr. Williams two days prior to the event on the 23rd where every band student received feedback and assistance across a multitude of musical subjects. Director of Bands Doug Brown stated “It is an incredible opportunity to bring in clinicians such as Dr. Williams to create and provide meaningful musical experiences for our students and the greater Madison community.”
Middleton’s final concerts include Wind Ensemble performances on May 9th and 10th at 7:30pm and Jazz Tracs on May 19th at 7pm, all in the Middleton Performing Arts Center.
